If you ordered regalia online BEFORE September 24, your regalia is now at the Bookstore, Third Floor for you to pick up between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Please note: we had such a tremendous response from faculty that we have had to move your assembly location to accommodate all interested faculty. You will now assemble on Cromwell Field (at the Katherine B. Loker Track Stadium) between 8:30 and 9:15 a.m. on the morning of October 15.
The university is proud to invite all faculty, retired faculty, and postdoctoral fellows and postdoctoral research associates to march in the official processional. Classes will not be canceled on Friday morning, but professors with classes scheduled are encouraged to bring their students to the ceremony. We will make seating available for all professors who would like to bring their classes (please email email@example.com to request seating for your class at the ceremony).
Faculty will march in the regalia representing the highest academic degree they have earned; the university will provide academic regalia for all faculty who ordered it online by Friday, September 24. Faculty who did not order regalia may still march in the procession; we will have extra regalia available the morning of October 15. Please register online at www.usc.edu/esvp (Code: Faculty)..
Faculty regalia will be available for pickup at the University Bookstore, third floor, from Monday, October 11 through Thursday, October 14 at 5:00 p.m. You must bring your regalia with you on Friday morning.
All faculty will on Cromwell Field. You will not need to check in. Refreshments will be available at this time. Please do not bring any personal belongings that you will not be able to carry with you as you march.
At the very head of the faculty procession, behind a single banner reading "USC FACULTY" will march the following groups:
1. Past Presidents of the Faculty
2. Distinguished and University Professors
3. Retired Faculty (as a single group)
Behind these three groups, faculty will be divided by school. At the perimeter of the field will be cardinal and gold banners with the names of the various academic units. When you are instructed, please gather behind your school's banner. Faculty will march in two columns behind the banner for their academic unit, followed by post-docs from that academic unit. The banners will be arranged according to the year of each unit's founding. The banner for each school will be carried by the president of that school's Faculty Council.
At 9:50 a.m. you will be led out of Cromwell Field and into Associates Park. When the processional begins at 10:00 a.m., you will be taken through the rear door of Bovard, onto the stage, down into the audience, and out into Alumni Park in two columns. If you have marched in Commencement, this part will feel very familiar to you. Marshals will lead the faculty party to the appropriate seating area.
The installation ceremony will begin immediately following the processional. It is at this ceremony that C. L. Max Nikias will be formally installed as the eleventh president of the university. The ceremony will end shortly before noon. After the platform party marches back to Bovard, faculty and their guests may attend the lunch at McCarthy Quad. If USC provided your regalia for you, you will have the opportunity to return it at this time. You may also return rented regalia at the front of the University Bookstore.
At noon, following the recessional, all guests are invited to attend a celebratory luncheon held in McCarthy Quad. There are no reservations necessary for this lunch - all are welcome.
Retired faculty who sent in an RSVP are invited to attend the Half Century Trojans Luncheon in Town and Gown following the ceremony.
